There's lots to do without even getting in your car when you stay at The Friendly Chat!

Thorneside is an old bayside suburb that suits people who enjoy walking, bird watching and refreshing Bay breezes. Numerous walkways and cycling paths wind through this leafy suburb leading you to the edge of Waterloo Bay, where migratory shorebirds abound.

Popular residents are scores of Black Swans who don’t mind having their picture taken.

Continue along the shoreline and you will discover Beth Boyd Park. Very popular at weekends, its picnic tables, electric BBQs and covered play area offer a shady space for relaxation and enjoyment for the whole family.

Opposite the park are two cafes – Unico Espresso and Blue Tongue – each having a character of its own, and offering different refreshments while you dine or play by the Bay. The William Taylor Sports Ground on Mooroondu Road offers facilities for cricket, tennis, soccer, netball,
petanque and a skate park.

As you amble around this leafy suburb, you can discover many peaceful spots for stopping a while in the shade and watching the world go by.
